Soak

Soak

Designed around the natural landscape and rock formations of our dramatic Crystal River Valley, Avalanche Ranch features 3 natural hot springs pools in a tiered layout. Cascading from one to the next, each of the beautiful hot springs is situated at a level that provides limited visibility from one to the next. The largest pool is fed by a 3-foot waterfall forming a warm screen of water in front of a rock grotto.

About the Pools

With views of Mt. Sopris, Elephant Mountain, and Avalanche Creek Valley, a more pristine area to reap the benefits of an outdoor hot mineral bath is hard to find.

As the water flows from the upper cedar pool in the log cabin, the heaviest of the minerals (iron, magnesium, and manganese) form the red layer of travertine. As the water goes over the waterfall and mixes with oxygen, more of the calcium and other minerals form the lower travertine in the thoroughfare stream. We try to maintain the upper two pools at a temperature of 103 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit and the big pool around 88 to 94 degrees. There is a sauna located on the top deck to enjoy between the hours of 9am-5pm. Paired with the clawfoot tub cold plunge your body will thank you!
